Description
1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 - Numbers Matching, 4-Speed Manual, 30,435 Miles
Seven Hills Motorcars is proud to offer this beautiful, numbers matching 1979 Camaro Z28 in excellent condition. With only 30,435 original miles and the highly desirable 4-speed manual transmission, this Z28 is remarkably original, runs well, and drives nicely. The car presents great lines and is completely solid. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic 4-speed Camaro at an unbeatable value, as second-generation F-Bodies are appreciating rapidly and the market is strong.
Numbers Matching
This Z28 is fully "Numbers Matching," with correct part numbers and date codes on major components. The last six digits of the VIN are stamped on the engine pad, confirming the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original, with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case.
Exterior
Finished in Dark Blue (29) over Tan Cloth (62), the original and correct color combination is verified by the trim tag. The factory turbine rally wheels are in great condition with no curb rash, and the raised white letter tires (235/60R15) have plenty of tread remaining. The paint shows its age with minor cosmetic blemishes, but the car is completely solid. Photos include detailed shots of the underside, spring perches, rockers, and lower quarter panels, highlighting the clean, rust-free condition.
Window Date Codes
All glass-including both door panels, rear window, and windshield-is date coded and original, predating the car's build date of the first week of April 1979 (04A). Original glass is a strong indicator of no major accident history.
Interior
The Tan (62) interior is in nice, original condition. Seats are free of split seams or rips, and the carpets, door panels, and dash are all in very good shape. Original package tray is intact, and the trunk includes the space-saver spare, jack, and jack base plate. This Camaro has never been smoked in. A light refresh could bring the interior to excellent condition.
Mechanical
This Z28 starts immediately, idles smoothly, and drives great at highway speeds. The brakes are responsive and the transmission shifts well, with minor play in reverse. The clutch feels good, and the engine produces plenty of power. The engine bay is clean, detailed, and correct. All lights, wipers, gauges, and the heater blower function properly (clock is the only exception). The car now has no catalytic converter and a healthy exhaust note.
